Våffeldagen

Today is Våffeldagen (Waffle Day) - I've quizzed all of our friends as to why you should eat waffles on 25th March but no one had any idea! A quick scout of the internet came up with many different reasons, such as eating waffles to celebrate the day that the Angel Gabrielle came to Mary to say that she had been chosen to be the mother of Jesus. This day is called Vårfrudagen in Swedish, which when said fast can sound a bit like Våffeldagen!! Other internet sites said that waffles are eaten to celebrate the beginning of spring.

Either way I don't need too much of a reason to eat waffles!! Happy Waffle Day!!

Waffle day sounds great! It seems like Sweden has very cool (and random) special days. Japan has "Eat An Eel" day which is not nearly so appealing!

Man, y'all are so lucky- I don't know of any pancake, waffle or doughnut days in Canada... obviously, we are quite far behind ya.

Sad, and waffless Emms in cold Canada :(

Hey, Denmark and Sweden are Scandinavian brothers, right? So why don't we get waffle day? I could totally go for a waffle holiday!
